Iwata, Akira
Dr. Akira Iwata studied organic chemistry in graduate school of pharmaceutical Science, Kyoto University and completed his Doctor’s degree. He began working at Tokyo New Drug Research Laboratories, Kowa Company Ltd. in 2015 and has been developing therapeutic agents as a medicinal chemist. In parallel, he has also been active as a member of the Japan Compound Library Consortium. Through the consortium, he has gained experience in data analysis and informatics. His previous research focused on constructing the machine learning models related to drug development.
Dr. Iwata joined CICS in June 2022 as a research fellow and has been engaged in Drug Discovery using Big Data Analysis by AI Technology to investigate new therapeutic targets in pro-inflammatory activation of macrophages and cardiovascular diseases.
