Buffolo, Fabrizio

Dr. Fabrizio Buffolo earned his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Torino in 2014, disserting a thesis entitled “Study of the alterations of Na+-K+ ATPase in primary aldosteronism”. He is currently attending the Internal Medicine residency program at the Division of Internal Medicine and Hypertension Unit directed by Prof. Franco Veglio (University of Torino), under the supervision of Prof. Paolo Mulatero and Dr. Silvia Monticone. During his career he focused both on clinical research in the field of primary aldosteronism and on basic science topics. In 2017 he joined the laboratory of Renal Immuno-Pathology directed by Prof. Giovanni Camussi, where he worked on the role of mesenchymal extracellular vesicles in inflammation and angiogenesis. Dr. Buffolo joined the CICS in 2018 as a research fellow in Professor Elena Aikawa’ s research group. He is working to identify insights into calcific aortic valve disease and vascular calcification.
